New developments of the RANRA
- New norm groups available
- User Guide - a guide that includes all of the basics you need to know to use the RANRA
The Rust Advanced Numerical Reasoning Appraisal (RANRA) measures numerical skills which have clear relevance for managers and decision makers in organisations. Unlike many numerical reasoning tests, RANRA uses a format designed to assess higher level numerical skills involving deduction, interpretation and evaluation.
RANRA is a new and demanding measure of numerical reasoning that builds on and extends the critical thinking skills appraisal available through use of the bestselling W-GCTA.
New norms are available on the right hand side of this page. The norms include representation from a wide variety of professions such as Accountancy, Security Services, Insurance, Police & Prison Services, Sales, Information Technology, Civil Service and Management Consultants.
Two measures of numerical reasoning contribute to the RANRA assessment:
- Comparison of Quantities
- Sufficiency of Information.
These subtests place emphasis on analytical rather than straightforward computational skills, and items are mostly easily solved through application of higher level numerical reasoning skills, rather than rote calculation.
The intuitive recognition of equivalence or sufficiency of information is a highly-developed cognitive skill and only likely to be present in those who not only have the knowledge and ability, but also have regularly and successfully applied it. Taken together, recognition of equivalence and sufficiency can be the best predictors of future performance and skill acquisition in the use of numerical reasoning for problem solving in management settings.
RANRA users will benefit from the extensive norms, easy-to-use materials, software scoring, optional online administration and the links with the popular Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal UK. This co-norming and close association with the W-GCTAUK has produced a seamless and demanding appraisal of both higher level verbal and numerical reasoning skills. The high ceiling on both tests make them ideal for selection and development in roles up to senior managerial level.
RANRA Practice Test
A RANRA practice test is available in the resources section for holders of the British Psychological Society's Level A Certificate in Occupational Testing. Candidates who are about to take the RANRA and require a practice test should contact their test administrator or the organisation for which they are taking the RANRA. We only supply test materials to those who hold a Level A Certificate in Occupational Testing from the British Psychological Society.
