Who should attend:

This course is relevant to anyone wishing to obtain the BPS Test User Occupational Ability and Personality qualifications at the same time.

SOSIE is the instrument included in the Personality part of the qualification and it can be used for both recruitment and development interventions and therefore would be suitable for anyone in HR, L&D or recruitment looking to gain the BPS qualifications.

The Ability qualification enables you to purchase and administer all UK ability tests, avoiding consultancy fees.

The 4-day course was designed in response to requests for shorter, more intensive training courses. The shorter duration of the course is reflected in the price - £1,620 + vat.

Investing in this shorter training ensures less time away from work which is particularly beneficial to self-employed consultants.

Pre-course work and course content:

Pre-course work involves approximately 4-5 hours of study. Pre-course work will be sent out when you book your place.

Post course work:

Delegates are expected to administer ability tests and the SOSIE questionnaire to a number of people. They should provide feedback and submit written reports.


About the trainer


Angus is a Chartered Psychologist with over 20 years experience of working with psychometric and other forms of assessment in organisational, educational and research contexts, and is the author of numerous published tests and questionnaires.  

He is committed to promoting excellence and best practice in the use of psychometric assessments, formerly being Chair of the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) Committee on Test Standards and remains the Senior Verifier for the Society’s Occupational Testing qualifications.  An experienced project manager, consultant and trainer, Angus believes passionately in the ethical use of assessment to enhance individual and organisational effectiveness.
